FedFinder coverage catalogue
Documentation index. Also available as Markdown.
For federal contractors deciding what to research or pursue, FedFinder's connector brings stored opportunity, award and supplier records into a compatible AI workspace through authenticated MCP tools.
This catalogue describes connector coverage, not every dataset or feature in the web application. Read the worked examples alongside the exact inputs. Review date: October 27, 2026. This is a capability description, not a live feed-health report.
Public-record research
These tools can be available on Research, Starter, Pro and Intel, subject to approved scopes and account status.
| Record family and tools | Useful for | Coverage boundary |
|---|---|---|
Federal notices: search_opportunities, get_opportunity | Find candidates by NAICS, agency, state and set-aside; inspect a returned identifier. | Stored SAM.gov notice records with open-notice filters. A filtered record does not confirm current eligibility, a complete package or an unchanged deadline. |
Federal award history: search_contracts | Examine recorded recipients, descriptions and amounts by NAICS, state or set-aside. | Historical award data, including records ingested through the award-data integration. No agency-name input or award-detail tool. A past award does not establish a current incumbent or a future recompete. |
Vendor records: search_vendors | Find potential suppliers or teaming leads by primary NAICS and state. | Stored vendor and enrichment fields. A recorded registration or certification is not a current verification. |
DLA parts RFQs: search_dibbs, get_dibbs | Search NSN, FSC, part, solicitation and supplier-classification evidence. | Selected locally mirrored DIBBS records, not every DLA procurement. Package, award and classification evidence can be partial or unavailable. |
State and local solicitations: search_state_opportunities | Research selected portal records separately from federal notices. | Source availability varies. This is not complete coverage of every state, city or municipal procurement. |
Federal assistance: search_grants | Review grant opportunities separately from procurement contracts. | Stored grant records. include_reference can include assistance-program reference and closed records; a reference listing is not an invitation to apply. |
Intel-only research
search_pre_rfp_signals provides stored indicators of possible procurement activity, with source and timing fields where present. A forecast, sources-sought notice or estimated window does not establish that an RFP will be issued. search_people provides recorded contracting contacts, not a guarantee of current authority or permission to contact someone.
Both tools require Intel in the connector, even where a related web feature has different plan access. Their current inputs are limit and page only. There is no agency, keyword or NAICS input on these two tools. Filtering a retrieved sample in an answer does not filter the full database.
Web features are not additional connector tools
The RFP Analyzer, dated regulatory evidence and PDF amendment review are separate web workflows. This tool catalogue does not expose dedicated tools for those features or a raw DoD budget-exhibit search. Do not represent their web availability as connector access.
Account data and writes are separate
get_company_profile,list_new_matches,connection_usageandlist_saved_opportunitiesread the connected account's information. Company capabilities and certifications entered by a customer are declarations, not independent verification.save_opportunityandremove_saved_opportunitychange a research shortlist. A research save is not a Pursuit Board entry.- Starter and higher can read their existing pursuits and recorded outcomes with
list_capturesandlist_win_loss. - Pro and Intel can use
create_pursuit,update_pursuitandadd_pursuit_notewith approved write scope. Confirm the exact change before writing. The connector does not submit government bids or quotes. api_inforeports connection capabilities. Authentication, scopes and tier jointly determine access; approving a scope does not upgrade a plan.
See plans and limits for billing and allowances and security for private-data sharing and disconnection.
Freshness: publication, observation and ingestion differ
Customer queries read local records, not a fresh upstream request. The scheduled federal-notice discovery cycle is daily. Award synchronization is scheduled daily at 06:10 UTC. Selected DIBBS discovery is daily, with a paced six-hour refresh for watched or pursued RFQs. Those are scheduling targets, not a guarantee that an upstream request succeeded or that every record was refreshed. Other source schedules vary.
| Returned evidence | What it establishes | What stays unresolved |
|---|---|---|
Federal posted_date, response_deadline, archive_date, ui_link, source | Recorded notice dates and a source reference where supplied. | These dates are not a retrieval timestamp. The opportunity response does not expose a per-record retrieval time. Missing or ambiguous dates stay unknown. |
Award award_id, start_date, end_date, created_at and value fields | Recorded award identity, performance dates and stored amounts. | created_at is a local storage date, not an award publication date. This response has no standard official-source URL or retrieval timestamp. |
DIBBS freshness, coverage, awards_coverage; detail source_evidence | Available observation dates, source links, parser context and coverage limits. | Missing dates, failed enrichment or incomplete pagination do not become verified evidence. Retained old evidence is not a successful new refresh. |
Pre-RFP source_url, captured_at, updated_at, estimated solicitation windows | A source reference and recorded observation context where present. | Observation time is not source publication time. A signal's confidence is not a win probability. |
Vendor last_enriched_at; people last_verified_at, last_seen_at | Recorded enrichment or verification timestamps where present. | Neither guarantees current registration, certification, employment or decision authority. |
An assistant should report a timestamp only when returned or independently checked. The date of the assistant's search is not the date the government published or changed a record.
Limits that affect a pursuit decision
A result count describes the stored records matching supported filters, not all work in a market. Paged tools expose limit and page; use returned pagination metadata where available. Research is capped at 25 records per call. DIBBS is capped at 25 on every plan and its search has no page input. Bounded DIBBS evidence may contain excerpt or collection truncation flags. An empty, limited or failed search is not proof that no relevant work exists.
For federal state filters, place of performance is used first. A contracting-office state is a fallback only when performance state is absent. An office in Virginia does not establish that the work is performed there. Inspect pop_state and office_state rather than silently treating them as the same location.
For DIBBS, supplier_type supports manufacturer, authorized distributor, distributor/reseller, repair/overhaul, mixed and unknown classifications. supplier_basis distinguishes historical awardees from published approved-source evidence. An award or CAGE alone does not prove manufacturer status or authorization. Unknown is not disqualified. A document link does not establish that usable drawings are available.
Compare award prices only with matching line-level quantities, units and scope. Award amounts, current values, potential values and ceilings are not interchangeable with obligations, unit prices or a supplier's current offer.
Check the official record
- SAM.gov opportunities: confirm notice status, amendments, submission instructions and eligibility using the returned notice identifier or source link.
- USAspending.gov: investigate public award history using the award identifier, recipient and agency together. Do not assume a local identifier alone resolves an official award.
- DLA DIBBS: confirm the RFQ and submission requirements. DLA supplier resources explain supplier and technical-data access.
- Grants.gov: check current application notices and eligibility.
- Acquisition Gateway forecasts: verify a forecast against its agency source. Forecasts are planning information, not solicitations.
If a source cannot be reached or a material requirement is missing, mark that question unresolved and identify the verification needed before pursuing. FedFinder results support human research and decisions; they do not certify eligibility, guarantee source completeness or predict an award.
